Evocative of beachy sunsets, warm-weather cocktails and juicy, just-picked strawberries, the color pink is a virtual harbinger of summer delights. As things heat up this season, a rich, rosy pout is practically mandatory. ‘‘We saw a lot of pink, from deep to bright, on the runways, and it’s definitely the statement to make on lips right now,’’ says François Nars, the founder and creative director of Nars Cosmetics. He equates choosing the right shade with picking any accessory: ‘‘Go with what you’re attracted to. Blue-based pinks will brighten any complexion Free Web space, but it’s ultimately more important to select a shade that suits your style, one you feel comfortable with.’’A bit of daring can pay off. ‘‘With a shocking or bright hue, teeth appear brighter, as do the whites of eyes Free Web space,’’ Nars says.

According to Chanel’s global creative director of makeup, Peter Philips, who used the color on the catwalks of Jil Sander and Fendi, pink is the easiest lip color to wear. ‘‘It flatters almost everyone,’’ he says. ‘‘If you have a bit of olive in your skin tone, you should go for more bluish pinks. Suntanned girls look great in coral pinks. Ivory-skinned girls and redheads look best in a range of rosewood shades, while dark-complexioned girls often look fantastic with an intense but luminous pink.’’ Not only is pink lipstick highly versatile, Philips says Free Web space, ‘‘it’s highly kissable.’’
