Grand Canyon Railway Excursion - Grand Canyon Railroad Tours

The grand canyon railway is active since the year 1901, long before the time, when the canyon was declared a national park. Though it encountered many glitches over the years, the railroad tour has survived the test of time. The railway excursions were stopped in 1968, when they could not compete with the craze of automobiles. The railroad tour was however revamped and restarted in 1889. Today, it carries over 200000 people annually, to the legendary grand canyon, in style and comfort.

The route runs between Williams, Arizona, and the grand canyon, covering a distance of about 65 miles in approximately 2 hours and fifteen minutes. This trip covers a scenic tour through the avid landscape and gives a first hand encounter with the natural flora and fauna of the region. It offers vacation packages, seasonal discounts and good lodging and boarding facilities as well. With this railway, you will get everything. Their packages include train travel, stays at their Williams and grand canyon hotels, plus the RV park stays. I make an attempt to highlight their comfort, style and luxury, in the paragraphs given below.

Features

The splendor of the canyon is made even better by the luxury and class, that the grand canyon railway presents to its patrons. The biggest value proposition is an enthusiastic and helpful crew. The vintage look of the revamped railway version can be seen in their four travel classes.

Coach Class
It brings back the grace of the stream-liner era. The air conditioned coaches with bench-style seating, have their own charm and style. The coach class passengers are treated with live music by the strolling musicians and they add to the local flavor of the trip. There are trained attendants, always willing to help and answer queries. The fees are $70 and $40 for adults and children respectively.

First Class
The luxury of the first-class seating is complete with large reclining seats, plenty of leg room and grand French style windows. The largeness does not end here. The first class comes with fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, snacks, juices and soft drinks, not to forget the fine spirits. The beauty of the canyon and the comfort of the train, combine to give a memorable vacation. The ticket for adults costs $140 and for children, it is $110.

Observation Dome
I wish I could give you a picture of this, but since I can't, I will try my best with words. The observation dome fascinates me the most, as it is a unique glass enclosed streamliner located high above the train. It also has high-backed, padded chairs that lend the complete feeling of royalty. The best part is the champagne toasts. Under 15s are not permitted here and the ticket for adults is $170.

Luxury Parlor Class
This is the most exclusive and thus, also the most expensive train seating. Parlor class is a lounge style seating with features of a private bar, open air platform, etc. Under 15s are disallowed here as well and adults are charged $190 to aboard.

Grand Canyon Tours

The canyon tours are exclusive ones, meant only for grand canyon railway train passengers. These allow travelers and tourists, to access areas that are otherwise inaccessible to cars. The 1.5 hours long tours are narrated by knowledgeable and experienced guides. All tours run in conjunction with the train's schedule and guide the tourists to some of the most recognizable south rim viewpoints. They can be booked singularly for $30, or with a buffet lunch at the Maswik cafeteria by adding another $10 to the amount.

Grand Canyon Railway Hotel

The review for the railway hotel is very favorable. Nested in the pristine Ponderosa pine forest, in Williams Big Fat Finance, the hotel is owned and run by the grand canyon railways. It is the best retreat if you're on a short sabbatical, trying to relieve yourself of your stress and trying to enjoy an unforgettable vacation in peace. The highlight of this luxurious hotel are modern amenities, triple sheeting, etc. Even cribs and roll-away beds can be availed on request. The best part is its locations, just 2 blocks north of downtown. The bright and airy rooms, that give beautiful forest views, are sure to become your personal homes away from home. Make sure to book your return ticket in advance, otherwise you'll never be able to leave this place.

I have given you an idea of the railroad excursion, the railway tour and a hotel review. All you need now, is to make the internet bookings, pack you bags and get on the plane to the destination. Even the lodging is so perfect, that the trip can't help but be special. Don't forget to take your camera along!
